In 1918 a letter was written to the Minister of Education explaining the need for a school in the Cob-O-Corn area (presently Afterlee). On the 4th September 1918 the Department agreed to establish Cob-O-Corn School. Mr Clarke offered two acres of land to use as the school site and the parents cleared the site and erected a wooden classroom which is still in use today as our library, kitchen and office. The school opened at the beginning of the 1919 year with an enrolment of 33 students. Over the past 90 years there have been 30 permanent teachers and over 550 students enrolled.
