Small School. Big difference. Huge opportunities!

Students from Afterlee enjoy eating from their own garden at school.

The importance of a great educational start in life is well acknowledged.

For our children to reach their full potential and become well rounded, positive and free-thinking contributors to society, they require a safe, nurturing and individualised learning environment. At Afterlee Public School, we know how valuable our students are and how important it is for them to feel connected, cared for and engaged in their learning.

We heavily subsidise curriculum-based excursions when needed, ensuring every student has the same opportunities. Afterlee staff cater to the individual needs of each and every child attending our school. Being a small school, we are in a unique position to know students’ interests, strengths and weaknesses and use these to foster self-worth, confidence, genuine engagement in learning and real growth.

With a strong focus on art, music, science and creating life-long learners, Afterlee Public school delivers well balanced and evidence based learning opportunities. The school has fantastic resources including a fully fitted out music room and a highly skilled music teacher, a wonderful up to date library, lap tops and computers for every student, a covered learning area and a rural setting including pets and kitchen gardens that encourage a love for the natural environment.

We network closely with our COLOURSS small schools, Barkers Vale, Collins Creek, Rukenvale, The Risk and Wiangaree to ensure our students experience “big school opportunities”. (These schools also offer small class sizes and great school communities).

At Afterlee, we aren’t just a school. We are a family, all working together to ensure our children reach their full potential. If you are looking for a school in the Afterlee/Toonumbar area (23kms from Kyogle) why not come experience the difference?

We are running Playgroup and Transition on Mondays from 9am. We hope you can come along.

“Research supports the common– sense notion that

children learn more and teachers are more effective in smaller classes”.

“My daughter came from a bigger school, she didn’t get the support she needed. At Afterlee they have gone out of their way to make sure she has a program that suits her. She loves school now!” Tina- parent

“We drive 25 km each way for our son to be able to attend Afterlee Public School. It is well worth the investment. He is thriving there’. Tara – parent

“ I choose Afterlee for the student to teacher ratio which enables teachers to really listen to your children's desires, hopes and interests”. Jodie—parent
